Shift perceptions, raise awareness, and build a more informed society.

Raising public knowledge and reducing barriers to taking action if they have early signs and symptoms are key goals for YLT. Through research and partnership with both local and international organizations, YLT have developed an awareness program to empower and inform the people. Information is key to the success of any intervention initiative and as such creating awareness in schools, in communities, especially in rural areas, and among healthcare professionals can significantly reduce the mortality rate of childhood cancer.

Information & Signposting

It is important that children, parents, teachers, healthcare professionals have adequate and appropriate information regarding childhood cancer. There are vital signs/symptoms to watch out for to help early diagnosis can be found in our YLT Childhood Cancer Leaflet. One of the primary goals of YLT is to ensure that all children with cancer are diagnosed as early as possible and that the early warning signs of childhood cancer are well known in all parts of the health system (including primary health care clinics and all hospitals).

Please see the Childhood Cancer page for information.

Appropriate healthcare signposting is the cornerstone of an effective system. It is certainly devastating news for any parent/carer to hear of the cancer diagnosis and therefore YLT is designed to give adequate information and advise patients the ability to make an informed decision on what services are available. We equip people with the vital skills they need to strengthen relationships with people living with or beyond cancer and help them to self-manage more effectively.
